What this parent might notice

  • They often name the feeling while keeping a clear, respectful limit.
  • They tend to treat difficult behavior as a chance to teach, reconnect, and try again.

In hard moments

May lean toward taking over. When time is short, this parent may step in and do what they hoped their child would do independently.

Trust and methodology

Reflection, not judgment.

The Compass is designed to help you notice patterns—not diagnose you, grade you, or prescribe one “right” way to parent.

Results are a qualitative blend, not a fixed category, score, diagnosis, or clinical assessment.
Parenting approaches have different levels and types of research support. The Compass does not rank one as best.
Your quiz answers stay in your browser. They are not saved to an account or profile.
If you write a custom answer, it is processed once by an AI service to identify broad parenting dimensions and is not stored.

The Fellow Parent approach

Support that leaves room for your family.

Calm, not clinical

Parenting guidance shouldn’t add pressure. Nothing here shouts, scores, or rushes you.

A peer, not a lecture

We reflect alongside you. There’s no single right way to raise a child—there’s your way, made intentional.

Space to grow

Small moments compound. We’re here for progress, not perfection.

Why we exist

Nobody gets a manual for this job.

Every parent is figuring it out as they go. Fellow Parent exists so you don’t have to do that alone—a place to understand how you parent, preserve the moments that matter, and grow toward the parent you want to be.

Common questions

Questions parents ask.

What is a parenting style quiz?

A parenting style quiz is a short, structured reflection that helps you notice how you tend to respond as a parent. The Parenting Compass asks about everyday scenarios with your child, then reflects back the parenting philosophies your answers most resemble—a blend, not a label.

How long does the quiz take?

About five minutes. You’ll reflect on seven regular-moment scenarios and three hard-moment scenarios, each tailored to your child’s age.

Is it free?

Yes. The Parenting Compass quiz is completely free, and no account or email is required to see your full result.

What are the 12 parenting philosophies?

Behaviorist (1-2-3 Magic), Attachment (Sears), Respectful Parenting (RIE), Positive Discipline, Emotion Coaching, Collaborative Solutions, Montessori, Waldorf, Unschooling, Free-Range, Tiger, and Calm Authority. Most parents blend two or three of them.

How accurate is it?

The Compass is a structured reflection, not a diagnosis or clinical assessment. It shows the qualitative patterns in your answers—it doesn’t rank you, grade you, or prescribe one “right” way to parent. You can read exactly how answers are interpreted and scored on our methodology page.

Do you store my answers?

No. Your quiz answers stay in your browser and are not saved to an account or profile. If you choose to write a custom answer, it is processed once by an AI service to identify broad parenting dimensions and is not stored. Analytics never receive your answers.
